Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal Rolls Out Mandatory Weekly Report Policy for Employees

Summary: Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal has introduced a mandatory weekly reporting policy for all employees across his companies. Under the program, titled “Kya Chal Raha Hai?” (meaning “What’s going on?”), employees must submit brief weekly updates summarizing their key tasks and achievements in 3 to 5 bullet points.

These reports must be sent every Sunday to managers and a designated company email, with no exceptions allowed.

The policy aims to increase transparency and accountability, giving leadership better visibility into ongoing work. Inspired by a similar directive from Tesla CEO Elon Musk, the move has received mixed reactions — some see it as helpful for alignment, while others view it as potential micromanagement.

In a move aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability across his companies, Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal has introduced a mandatory weekly reporting system for all employees. The policy, titled “Kya Chal Raha Hai?” — which translates to “What’s going on?” in Hindi — requires workers to submit brief weekly summaries of their work to their managers and a designated company email address.

The new directive, reminiscent of a similar policy announced by Tesla CEO Elon Musk for government employees, is designed to keep management closely informed about ongoing projects, completed tasks, and overall progress across teams.

In an internal message sent last week, Aggarwal laid out the expectations for the reports, emphasizing that each submission must contain three to five concise bullet points summarizing key tasks and achievements from the past week. The inaugural reports were expected to be submitted by the end of the day following the initial announcement, with all future updates required every Sunday without fail.

Everyone has to send this, no exceptions,” Aggarwal wrote, underscoring the importance of the new system.

The policy reflects Aggarwal’s hands-on leadership style and his focus on maintaining real-time visibility into employee productivity and operational progress. This level of transparency, the company believes, will not only foster greater accountability but also help identify bottlenecks and accelerate decision-making processes.

The move has sparked mixed reactions within Ola Electric and other ventures led by Aggarwal. While some employees view it as an effective way to streamline communication and align teams, others worry about the added administrative burden and the potential for micromanagement.

Aggarwal’s policy follows a growing trend among tech leaders pushing for increased visibility into employee workflows, especially in the post-pandemic hybrid work era where clear communication and alignment are paramount.

As the “Kya Chal Raha Hai?” program rolls out, it will be interesting to see how it shapes workplace culture at Ola and whether it succeeds in driving the operational efficiency that Aggarwal envisions.
